Desiderata.

DESIDERATA

Go placidly amid the noise and haste and remember what peace there may be in silence. As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and carefully and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant, they too, have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexatious to the spirit.
If you compare yourself to others, you may become vain and bitter. For always, there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble. It is a real possession in the changing fortunes of times. Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery but let this not blind you to what virtue there is. Many persons strive for high ideals, And everywhere life is full of heroism.
Be yourself, especially do not feign affection for others. Neither be cynical about love, for all in the face of all aridity and disenchantment, it is perennial as the grass.
Therefore, be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labours and aspirations in the noisy confusion of life.
Keep peace with your soul. With all it's sham and drudgery and broken dreams. It is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful, strive to be happy.

    I first became aware of kd when l saw her on Alan Titchmarsh, Pebble Mill at One. She sang Constant Craving and Miss Chatelaine, inbetween these two songs Alan interviewed her. He accused her of tub-thumping, mentioned the famous quote from Madonna and inevitably asked her about 'coming out'. She quite rightly said "music transcends sexuality". She wore a navy blue suit. PHILOSOPHY: How you climb up the mountain is just as important as how you get down the mountain, in the end, it all comes down to one word. grace. It is not "if" we will lose the things we love, it is "when" with some, the loss comes in a major catastrophic event. for most, love is surrendered one piece at a time...first childhood, a promising romance, the passing of a loved one, and finally a child who leaves home, but as we lose, can we not gain a deep knowing that in the presence of grace, love is eternal.

PHILOSOPHY: If grace has a definition it is undeserved favor, if grace has a response it is thank you, forgive me, pardon me, or may l help you, if grace has a destination it is in the safe arms of someone you know truly loves you, if grace has a feeling it is deeply soft, smooth, and non contracting.If grace has a face it smiles and is lit from within.If grace has a smell it is heaven scent. If grace has a goal it is that we all live in harmony and sweet peace.If grace has a job it is that we pray for one another and give thanks throughout the day, if grace has a child it is the child inside that never grew up that knows to believe in miracles, if grace has song it is amazing.

PHILOSOPHY: life is a classroom, we are both student and teacher, each day is a test and each day we receive a passing or failing grade in one particular subject: grace is compassion , gratitude, surrender, faith, forgiveness, good manners, reverence, and the list goes on, it's something money can't buy and credentials rarely produce, being the smartest, the prettiest, the most talented, the richest,or even the poorest, can't help. being a humble person can and being a helpful person can guide you through your days with grace and gratitude.

PHILOSOPHY: when it comes to love you need not fall but rather surrender. surrender to the idea that you must love yourself before you can love another. you must absolutely trust yourself before you can absolutely trust another and most importantly you must accept your flaws before you can accept the flaws of another.
